TEXAS HEROES DAY IN LA GRANGE TO BE CELEBRATED VIRTUALLY
The Texas Heroes Day celebration in La Grange is shifting to a virtual format.
Starting Saturday, the Texas Historical Commission, in partnership with the Friends of Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites, will hold a week-long series of internet-accessible programs and activities to commemorate the Texas history of Monument Hill.
Texas Heroes Day on September 19th acknowledges the sacrifices made by those who lived and fought during the Texas Revolution, and honors those who defended the Republic of Texas.
The virtual commemoration will include student art and creative writing contests, historical blog posts about Monument Hill, and at-home family activities. The celebration on the 19th will include greetings from special guests, a live-streamed wreath ceremony and military salute, historical video presentations, and other virtual activities for the community.
