BURTON PANTHER CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 4TH IN FIRST MEET OF SEASON

The Burton Panthers kicked off their 2020 Cross Country season this Saturday with a trip to Hays High School in Buda, Texas. Competing as the lone 2A in a 5A/6A meet, the Panthers placed 4th overall as a team. The seven man squad was led by Jakori Mathis (Sr.), who finished 16th overall. Also placing in the top 20 were Eli Saunders (Jr.) and Jett Cowen (Sr.). Additional point scorers for the Panthers were Sophomore Cannon Manley and Senior Kolby Vavrecka. Rounding out the squad from Burton was newcomer Trevor Renninger (Jr.) and returning veteran CJ Casas (Jr.). The Panthers continue their season next Saturday, September 26th at the Cameron High School invitational. There they will be joined by the Lady Panthers in their first meet of the season.
