BISD EARN’S STATE’S HIGHEST FISCAL RATING

The Brenham Independent School District has earned a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability rating system for the 2019 fiscal year.

The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest demonstrating the quality of Brenham ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

Director of Business and Finance, Kim Weatherby said, “It is a top priority for the board of trustees and district administration to be fiscally responsible with local, state and federal revenues.”

School FIRST ratings are based on fifteen financial indicators, such as administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of a district’s financial information submitted to TEA, and any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor. Brenham ISD received a perfect score on all fifteen indicators and earned an overall rating of 100 on a scale of 1-100.

Brenham ISD Superintendent, Dr. Tylor Chaplin said, “This rating is a reflection of the great job our school board and administrative staff does to ensure we are being as efficient with taxpayer dollars as possible while providing for the needs of our students.”
