RADIO-ONLY VETERANS DAY PROGRAM ON KWHI

  

Observance of Veterans Day today (Wednesday) in Washington County will occur differently from previous years, but veterans from around the area will still be recognized for their service.

The Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA) has cancelled its annual in-person Veterans Day program due to continued COVID-19 restrictions, but KWHI will still air Veterans Day programming starting at 10:45 a.m.  The program, conducted by the combined veterans organizations of Washington County, will feature patriotic music and messages from local elected officials.

Ben Seeker, Commander of Brenham’s James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104, President of the WCVA, and a member of the Brenham Honor Guard, will be the featured speaker for the program.

Prior to the program, the VFW Post, located at 1200 East Tom Green Street, will host a Veterans Day breakfast.  Doors will open at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.  All veterans, along with their families and friends, are invited to attend the event.  All COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

After the program, the WCVA is sponsoring a drive-thru only beef and pork barbecue lunch at American Legion Post 48, at 903 North Park Street. Meal tickets are available from local veterans groups and at Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy N Bye, and Robert’s Service Station.  Tickets are $12, and will only be sold in advance. Meal tickets are sold out.
