BURTON COUNCIL MEMBER RESIGNS

The Burton City Council has accepted the resignation of council member Jerry Martin.

Tuesday night, Martin’s resignation was accepted for personal reasons.  He served on the council since May 2018.

Council member Buck Olephant had also submitted his resignation earlier, but withdrew it from consideration before it could be approved.

Also, at the meeting, the council approved going out for bids on mowing and maintenance on certain city properties such as City Hall, the water tower lot and the city park.

The council says a separate bid should be submitted for each property. Submission forms are due on or before December 31st. The bid will be awarded at the Council meeting January 12th.

The council also, removed the item concerning a new Building Code Ordinance from the agenda.  The new ordinance would have required all new construction to meet the 2018 International Building Code, the 2018 International Residential Code and the 2020 National Electrical Code.

They also tabled action on an amendment to the Animal Control Ordinance which limits the number of cats and dogs residents could own.
