BRENHAM PLANNING AND ZONING APPROVES INDUSTRIAL ZONING ASSIGNMENT FOR BUSINESS EXPANSION

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission approved an industrial zoning assignment for a business seeking commercial expansion at its meeting Monday.

Commissioners approved an amendment to the city’s zoning map to assign industrial zoning for 5.15 acres of land in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ), next to 1751 Highway 290 West.

River Eagle Real Estate, on behalf of Mike Hopkins Distributing (MHD), is asking the property be annexed into the city and given industrial zoning to match the adjacent property in order to accommodate expansion.  A public hearing for the annexation and the zoning assignment is scheduled at the Brenham City Council’s meeting January 7, 2021.

Project Planner Shauna Laauwe said the business is currently under plan review to expand its distribution warehouse, but with a portion of the property being located outside of the city, the expansion required a replat.

Also at Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved a replat request from William McMeans, Jr., who has one lot with three residential structures, addressed as 1403 South Baylor Street, 1402 South Market Street and 1404 South Market Street.  The property owner plans to demolish the home at 1404 South Market Street, and intends to subdivide the property so that the homes at 1402 South Market Street and 1403 South Baylor Street would be individual lots.
