NEW, RETURNING WASHINGTON CO. OFFICIALS TO BE SWORN IN NEW YEAR’S DAY

Several elected officials in Washington County will be sworn in at a ceremony New Year’s Day.
Among those taking the oath of office will be Precinct One Commissioner Don Koester. Koester defeated Republican opponent Rick Seeker in March’s primary election and Democrat challenger Shirley Harris-Jackson in November’s general election. Koester has served as commissioner since 2017.

Also being sworn in is new Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl Gaskamp, who defeated Daphne Kohring in the March Republican primary and was unopposed in November. Gaskamp will succeed the retiring Dot Borchgardt, who will also be recognized at the ceremony.
New Precinct Two Constable George “Trey” Holleway III will also be sworn in, filling the post formerly held by Carroll “Butch” Faske, who died in May. Holleway was nominated in August to sit on the November ballot as the unopposed Republican candidate for the position. There will also be a presentation in recognition of Faske’s 31 years of service in the constable post.
Including Koester, Gaskamp, and Holleway, a total of 11 oaths will be administered at the ceremony. Others that will be sworn in include Precinct Three Commissioner Kirk Hanath, Sheriff Otto Hanak, County Attorney Renee Mueller, District Attorney Julie Renken, District Judge Carson Campbell, Precinct One Constable Ken Holle, Precinct Three Constable David Blakey, and Precinct Four Constable Greg Rolling, who were all unopposed in their bids for re-election.
The ceremony will be held next Friday, January 1st at 9 a.m. in the district courtroom of the Washington County Courthouse.
