With 2021 just over the horizon, KWHI is asking officials in Washington County what their thoughts are on how they and their administrations fared in 2020.

Our conversation continues with Brenham Mayor Milton Tate, who discussed the events of this year and his hopes for next year.

Tate said he is proud of the work the city and its employees have done this year in spite of all the negative events of 2020.  He said the city has been fortunate to have the employees it has during this difficult time.

While this year was very difficult for the city, Tate believes it has taken the steps necessary to protect its employees and residents.

Tate asked for the public to continue following proper health guidelines, and urged residents to take the COVID-19 vaccines as soon as they are able to.

Tate was first elected in a special election in 2003 to serve as mayor of Brenham, succeeding the late Walter Schwartz.  He has since been elected five times, most recently defeating challenger Dorothy Morgan in 2019.
