WASHINGTON CO. ELECTED OFFICIALS SWORN INTO OFFICE
Today (Friday) marked the beginning or the continuation of service for several elected officials in Washington County, as they received the oath of office at a ceremony this morning at the Washington County Courthouse.
Ten county officials were sworn in after they were elected in November’s general election.
One of those who took the oath of office was new Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl Gaskamp, who is replacing the retiring Dot Borchgardt. Gaskamp defeated Daphne Kohring in the March Republican primary and was unopposed in November.
Borchgardt was recognized for her 24 years of service to the county, 12 of which as tax assessor-collector, at the ceremony.
New Precinct Two Constable George “Trey” Holleway III also received the oath of office, and will fill the position formerly held by Carroll “Butch” Faske, who died in May after serving as constable for 31 years. Holleway was nominated in August to sit on the November ballot as the unopposed Republican candidate for the position.
The others sworn in today were Precinct Three Commissioner Kirk Hanath, Sheriff Otto Hanak, County Attorney Renee Mueller, District Attorney Julie Renken, District Judge Carson Campbell, Precinct One Constable Ken Holle, Precinct Three Constable David Blakey, and Precinct Four Constable Greg Rolling, who were all unopposed in their bids for re-election.
Precinct One Commissioner Don Koester was not present at the ceremony to be sworn in, as he was ill. County Judge John Durrenberger said Koester will receive the oath of office at another time.
