BRENHAM POLICE DEPT. SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY

The Brenham Police Department is now taking applications for its annual Citizens Police Academy.

The educational program allows citizens to see inside the world of law enforcement and what is involved with the daily duties of officers.  Tours, lectures, demonstrations, and “hands-on” experiences provide class participants insight into the policies and procedures of the department, while also allowing them to meet and get to know officers.

Topics covered include patrol procedures, criminal investigations, S.W.A.T., hostage negotiation, building search, traffic stops, narcotics, and DWI enforcement.

This year’s academy begins on February 11th.  Classes will take place on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and end with a tentative graduation.

Classes are free of charge and are available to all Washington County residents who are 18 years old or older.  There are no physical agility tests to pass.

Applications are available online at www.cityofbrenham.org.  Anyone who has questions or needs help signing up can contact Officer Marley Mayo at 979-337-7597 or mmayo@cityofbrenham.org.
