The Visit Brenham/Washington County Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), along with the newly formed Texas Music Friendly Committee, will hold a local music industry town hall meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Hasskarl Auditorium at The Barnhill Center.

Brenham officially joins the program on Tuesday, adding its name to a roster of other Texas cities like Austin, Bastrop, Conroe, Fort Worth, Lubbock, San Antonio, Stephenville, and Waco.  The Brenham City Council in November approved a memorandum of understanding with the Texas Music Office, which oversees the program.

City of Brenham Tourism and Marketing Director Jennifer Eckermann said the city is honored to be designated as Texas Music Friendly, and wants to get input from those who participate in any way in the local music industry.  She said the city understands that music “contributes to making communities better, more vibrant and more livable.”

Visit Brenham/Washington County is the liaison between the city and the Texas Music Office, and Tourism and Visitor Experience Manager Jennifer Phillips will be responsible for required reporting and working with the Texas Music Friendly Committee.  The committee is made up of Phillips, Brad Stufflebeam, Rob Moorman, Cameron Crawford, Mark Rosenbaum, Vicky Wehmeyer and Elaine Dillard.

Phillips said the DMO has been working with James Pharaon to develop a certification award video that will be presented at the town hall. The video includes recorded messages from local venue owners and artists, and will be posted on Facebook and on http://visitbrenhamtexas.com after the meeting.
