Downtown Brenham was buzzing Saturday afternoon for Main Street Brenham’s annual “Uptown Swirl.”

Hundreds of visitors strolled from shop to shop and sampled a wide variety of wines offered at 29 participating businesses and locations.  Five hundred tickets were sold for the event, and tickets sold out several days prior to Saturday.

City of Brenham Tourism and Marketing Director Jennifer Eckermann says organizers were pleased with the turnout, and happy to see the extra foot traffic for local businesses.

Eckermann says it seemed like many of this year’s attendees were first-time visitors to Brenham.

In years past, wine glasses were sold directly to visitors for pickup at the Washington County Courthouse Gazebo the day of the event.  This year, however, tickets were sold in exchange for wristbands and the wine glasses.  Eckermann says the reception for this new method was positive, so organizers will look into continuing it for future events.

Special thanks are given to this year’s “Uptown Swirl” sponsors:

Cabernet Sponsors Deep in the Heart Farms and Compass Country Properties Group, Pinot Grigio Sponsor Hermann Furniture, and Moscato Sponsors Bank of Brenham, CRAVE Fitness Studio, Altman Dentistry, and Select Furnishings.
