SEVEN ACRES BURN IN GRASS FIRE NEAR GAY HILL

Approximately seven acres of grass burned in a fire Sunday afternoon south of Gay Hill.

At 1:15 p.m., firefighters from Gay Hill, Berlin and Brenham responded to a grass fire in the 2700 block of Wauls Legion Road.

According to Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Chief Donald Schroeder, the fire started in the road ditch, but it is undetermined what exactly caused the fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes, and remained on scene for an hour and a half.
