This is the first year for Brooke Trahan as Brenham High School’s art teacher, teaching in the same room that Robert Parker taught her art when she was in school.  Parker, who passed away in 2019 after a brief battle with T-Cell Lymphoma, taught for 40 years in Brenham ISD.

When Robert’s widow, Ruth Parker, heard that Trahan returned to Brenham ISD to fill his old position, she reached out to Trahan and invited her to their home studio, saying she wanted to share items from his studio with Trahan for her students.

The amount of art supplies ended up being over two carloads full, and valued over $6,000.

Trahan said Parker was the one who pushed her to take her art seriously and encouraged her to be a teacher.  She said this donation is “monumental for our program and students.”
