BLINN COLLEGE USES STRONG PITCHING PERFORMANCES TO SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER AT GALVESTON TOURNAMENT

Bucs beat Galveston College, Western Texas to remain unbeaten on the season

GALVESTON, Texas – The Blinn College Buccaneers baseball team stayed unbeaten with two wins Friday in the Galveston Tournament.
The Bucs held on to beat host Galveston College 7-5 in the nightcap, a game that didn’t finish until after midnight. Blinn downed Western Texas 7-3 in the earlier game.
Head coach Harvey McIntyre praised starting pitchers Colton Geisler and Dylan Theut.
“They were phenomenal,” McIntyre said. “I think between them they pitched 10 innings combined and gave up one hit. They also had 20 strikeouts between them. That kind of set the tone for the day.”
The Bucs also played flawlessly in the field for the doubleheader with no errors.
McIntyre said his team was able to get two more wins by staying strong mentally.
“I told them on Thursday that it’s going to be a challenge mentally on Friday because you’re going to have to leave Brenham at 6:30 a.m. and play at 10, then sit around all day,” he said. “You just kind of hang in there and get through the day.”
McIntyre said the team didn’t get back to Brenham until 2:38 a.m. Saturday. They left at 10 a.m. for a 1 p.m. game against Temple College in the Galveston Tournament.
