FAYETTE CO. SHERIFF RETURNS TO WORK AFTER SUFFERING INJURIES IN ACCIDENT
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek is back at work after spending time in the hospital following an accident in late January.
Sunday was the first day back at the office for Korenek after suffering facial injuries in a one-vehicle crash near Fayetteville early Sunday, January 31st.
According to Fayette County Sheriff’s Lieutenant David Beyer, Korenek was the passenger in a vehicle with a driver who was not familiar with the area, while conditions were also foggy. The vehicle ran off the road and hit an embankment.
Korenek was treated in the intensive care unit at St. David’s in Austin. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Beyer specified that Korenek will need to have his jaw wired shut for about six weeks. Despite this, he said Korenek is doing well and “doing the best he can to get through.”
What’s important is that is is ok and will recover.
