BRENHAM PARKS AND REC BOARD TO RECEIVE UPDATE ON BRENHAM FAMILY PARK, OTHER PROJECTS

An update on the status of the Brenham Family Park will lead discussion tomorrow (Wednesday) for the Brenham Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

In addition to discussion and updates on the park’s design and construction, board members will hear an update on other Parks and Recreation projects funded in the current fiscal year. They will also receive a presentation on project funding in the upcoming fiscal year from the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC).

At the Brenham City Council’s meeting last week, it approved a professional services agreement with Jones-Carter Engineering for the first phase of development at the Brenham Family Park. The engineering firm will assist with environmental reports, design decisions, amenity locations, bidding services and construction services for the first phase of the approximately 100-acre park project.

Phase 1(a) of the park, which could begin construction this summer, will include a one-mile concrete walking and biking trail, a lake or detention pond over four acres in size, parking, restrooms, trail lighting and playscapes.

Also at tomorrow’s meeting, the board will hear a presentation on the Brenham Pickleball League, along with staff updates. It will also introduce new board members and potentially elect a chair and vice chair on the board for a one-year term.

The board will meet tomorrow at noon in the All Sports Building at Hohlt Park.
