BLINN BOARD TO HOLD BUDGET WORKSHOP, DISCUSS ATHLETIC FACILITY UPDATES

The Blinn Board of Trustees will hold a pair of meetings Tuesday to discuss the upcoming fiscal year budget and updates to athletic facilities on the Brenham Campus.

Trustees will first hold a workshop to discuss the tuition and fees for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year.  They will then move into regular session to discuss contracts with Vaughn Construction and other vendors for relocating the football fieldhouse and updating the Spencer field block.

Due to ongoing construction of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation (STEI) Building, Blinn is seeking to renovate the Spencer field block.  The College could potentially relocate the football fieldhouse functions into the Henry J. Boehm building, and could then relocate the weight room and football coaching offices into the east wing of the Classroom building.

If approved by the board, the relocation of the football fieldhouse functions could then allow for the demolition of Spencer fieldhouse, thereby allowing for updates to the Spencer field block.

Also at Tuesday’s regular meeting, trustees will receive the Title IV Compliance and Student Activity audit report, in addition to administrative reports.  After an executive session, the board will then consider an amended agreement with the Schulenburg Economic Development Corporation.

The board will meet at 4 p.m. for the budget workshop and at 5:30 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Public access will be limited to Rooms 2 and 3 of the Brenham Campus Student Center.  The meetings will also be livestreamed on Blinn College’s YouTube channel.
