BURTON ISSUES BOIL WATER NOTICE

The City of Burton has issued a boil water notice to city water customers.

Due to electrical outages and low water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the city water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.

Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable.

Water should be brought to a vigorous, roiling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, customers can purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.  When it is no longer necessary to boil water, the city's water system officials will send out notification that the water is safe for consumption and issue instructions to discontinue boiling.

Anyone with questions can call 979-289-3400.

  1. When and how will residents be notified? Seems important. I have signed up for alerts but did not receive notification.
