RESIDENTS URGED TO STAY HOME WITH WEATHER-RELATED INJURIES ON THE RISE

HOSPITALS REMAIN OPEN, COLLEGE STATION REGION CLINICS CLOSED WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY

Officials at Baylor Scott and White are asking the public to stay inside, as they are seeing an increase in injuries related to the winter weather.

In a statement, the healthcare provider said to stay indoors when possible and to proceed with great caution if going out, as its emergency departments are dealing with "an increasing number of weather-related injuries."

Baylor Scott and White said its teams prepare throughout the year to provide care for its communities during a variety of situations, with preparations including hosting drills, testing backup power sources, and practicing emergency communications systems.  It also said that leaders at the organization worked over the past week to prepare for the winter storm, making arrangements for team members to remain onsite at hospitals and at nearby hotels.

The organization said it is closely monitoring staffing needs and working quickly to deploy team members and resources as needed.

All Baylor Scott and White hospitals remain open, but all clinics in the College Station Region, which includes Brenham, Bryan, College Station, Navasota and surrounding communities, are closed today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday).  In-person appointments scheduled for today and tomorrow are being rescheduled.  Virtual care options are available at MyBSWHealth.com, or on the MyBSWHealth app.  To download the app, text BETTER to 88408.

Updates will be posted at BSWHealth.com and news.bswhealth.com.
