BEEVILLE, Texas — The No. 20 Blinn College women’s basketball team downed Coastal Bend College, 87-43, for a conference win on the road Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers now hold a 7-3 overall record and 3-1 conference record.
“We played really well defensively and were very focused,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “It was truly a complete team win with everybody making a good contribution.”
Hailey Atwood scored a team-high 20 points, while Deja Adrian and Briauna Johnson each scored 12. Chynell Mitchell contributed 11 points, Telisha Brown scored 10, and Wynter Taylor and Jessica Soders each came up with seven in the win.
The Buccaneers took off with an 18-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 41-14 advantage at the halfway mark. Blinn added 30 points in the third quarter, while holding Coastal Bend to five, for the Buccaneers to lead 71-19. The Buccaneers put 16 more points on the board in the final quarter to finish off Coastal Bend, 87-43.
Next, the Buccaneers will face off against No. 11 Tyler Junior College on Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. on the road.
