The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) board of directors has fired the entity’s president and CEO.

On Wednesday, the board voted to issue a 60-day termination notice for Bill Magness.  He will officially be terminated on May 2nd.

During this transition period, Magness will continue to serve in the position and work with state leaders and regulators on potential ERCOT reform.

The ERCOT board plans to immediately begin searching for Magness’ replacement.

Seven ERCOT board members have resigned in the aftermath of the statewide power outages linked to the recent winter storm.  The 16-person board has been criticized for its handling of the situation, which left millions of Texans without power.

DeAnn Walker, the chair for the Public Utility Commission of Texas, which oversees ERCOT, resigned on Monday.  Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday appointed Arthur D’Andrea to be her replacement.
