#24 BUC WOMENS HOOPS TOPS JACKSONVILLE, 73-52
Hailey Atwood scores team-high 24 points
JACKSONVILLE, Texas — The No. 24 Blinn College women’s basketball team topped Jacksonville College, 73-52, on the road Monday.
With the win, the Buccaneers improved their overall record to 9-5 and conference record to 5-3.
“It was a good win at a tough place to play,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “It was nice to get back on the floor after five days off. I thought our kids played hard defensively and made the extra pass against the zone.”
Hailey Atwood scored a team-high 24 points, Keaundra Eddings was next with 11, Jessica Soders tallied nine, and Briauna Johnson recorded eight in the win.
The Buccaneers held a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 14-13. Then, Blinn outscored Jacksonville 20-10 to pull ahead 34-23 at halftime.
Blinn continued to outscore Jacksonville in both the third and fourth quarters. The Buccaneers led 59-41 at the end of the third, before defeating Jacksonville, 73-52.
Next, the Buccaneers will return home to compete against Paris Junior College on Wednesday, March 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
