RUMORS DOMINATE AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

Rumors and misinformation dominated the first portion of the Airport Advisory Board meeting Tuesday evening.  Pat Elliot questioned the board about his objection of a rumored landing fee at the airport.  After several contentious minutes, ex-officio board member and FOB owner Brent Nedbalek answered Elliot by stating that he had requested that the FBO would be able to charge a fee to larger, turbine powered aircraft who request services, but fail to purchase any fuel.  He assured Elliot that a person flying a single engine Cessna or other small aircraft and landing at the Brenham airport would not pay a fee of any sort.

On the agenda for the meeting were discussion of the lease agreement for the Southern Flyer FBO building, and a revised FBO agreement that included the user fees for larger aircraft.  The board approved the building lease agreement with several performance measures such that the restaurant at the airport would be open to the public within 270 days of signing.  Nedbalek and Aviators Plus would be able to sub-lease the restaurant if they elect to do so.  On the FBO agreement, an objection was made about a sentence that said the FBO could charge a fee for an aircraft tied down on the ramp after going to the city for approval.  The sentenced was added to the agreement to avoid derelict aircraft from taking up ramp space.  The agreement was approved by the board after an amendment was added that gave a 30 day limit on ramp tie downs.  Both the terminal building lease agreement and the FBO agreement will now go before the City Council at their March 25th meeting for approval.
