SPRING OPEN COLLECTION DAYS BEGIN THURSDAY FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS

Washington County residents will be able to take part in the annual Spring Open Collection Days at the BVR Collection Station in Brenham starting tomorrow (Thursday).

County residents can dispose up to 500 pounds of non-hazardous waste for free at the station, located at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road, from tomorrow through Saturday.  The collection event for city residents was held March 4-6.

The event is only for non-commercial customers, who will need to show proof of residence and ID upon arrival.

Any amount above the first 500 pounds of debris per household will be charged at the full rate.  The collection station charges $90 per ton of non-compactible debris and $22.50 per ton of brush and yard waste.

Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee prior to drop-off.  Tires will be taken at the normal gate rate.  Household computers will be accepted, but large quantities of computers will be turned away.  Propane tanks and loads with dirt, cement and/or bricks will also be rejected.

After dropping off their trash, residents can pick up a load of mulch.

Hours for the BVR Collection Station during the event will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
