VACCINATIONS AT subHUB WILL GO ON DESPITE STATE NOT SENDING NEW DOSES THIS WEEK; SPOTS STILL OPEN FOR TUESDAY

  

No additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines were sent this week to the Regional Vaccination subHUB at the Washington County Expo, but subHUB officials say that will not affect this week’s vaccinations.

Saturday, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) released its list of first dose vaccine allocations for week 16, beginning today (Monday).  The subHUB was not included on this week’s list, but CHI St. Joseph Primary Care and H-E-B Pharmacy in Brenham each received 100 doses.

Washington County EMS Director Kevin Deramus says the subHUB told the state not to ship any additional vaccines this week, as it has an existing stock of vaccines that it needs to work through.

According to Deramus, the state normally sends 3,000 vaccine doses per each weekly shipment.  The subHUB shut down the week of the winter storm in February, but the state still sent over a shipment of vaccines, resulting in a back stock.  The extra vaccines also come as a result of patients registering for vaccines but not arriving to receive them.

Deramus says the Washington County subHUB is not the only vaccine location having this problem, as several other hubs across the state are also experiencing this.

As of this (Monday) morning, according to Deramus, roughly 2,300 spots are still open for first dose vaccine appointments tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Adults 18 and older are eligible to be vaccinated.
