BURTON FFA SECURES TOP FINISHES AT SEVERAL JUDGING COMPETITIONS

  

The past week has been full of awards and accolades for the Burton FFA judging teams, placing high at several competitions across the state.

The teams first competed March 25th at Tarleton State University, where the livestock team placed third out of 217 teams and the dairy cattle team finished 19th out of 99.  The livestock team was made up of Chet Fritsch (seventh high individual), Weston Hinze (11th high individual), Tanna Thiel (19th high individual), Waylon Hinze and Cooper Lucherk.  The dairy cattle team consisted of Cassidy Fuchs (22nd high individual), Kelsey Fehrle (29th high), Amanda Broadus and Mycah Simank.  The floral team, consisting of Hailey Schoenvogel, Kristin Dyess and Trista DeHart also competed.

Burton’s next stop was the Angelo State livestock contest on Friday, March 26th.  The judging team placed first out of 114 teams, and consisted of Chet Fritsch (third high individual), Tanna Thiel (11th high individual), Weston Hinze (15th high individual), Waylon Hinze and Amanda Broadus.

On Saturday, March 27th, the livestock team competed at the Rodeo Austin virtual contest and placed first out of 39 teams.  The team was made up of Waylon Hinze, Tanna Thiel, Weston Hinze and Chet Fritsch, who placed as fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh high individuals, respectively.

Weston Hinze and Tanna Thiel also competed at the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock on March 27th.  Out of 306 individuals, Weston was the high individual and Tanna was the fifth high individual.

The livestock team then competed on Sunday, March 28th at the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show, placing second out of 61 teams.  Chet Fritsch placed as 11th high individual, Weston Hinze finished 12th, Tanna Thiel earned 17th, and Waylon Hinze took 24th.

The most recent competition came Tuesday, March 30th at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where the livestock teams placed first and 48th out of 207 teams.  On the first place team, Chet Fritsch finished as second high individual, Waylon Hinze placed third, Tanna Thiel came in 23rd, and Weston Hinze took 39th.  The 48th place team consisted of Amanda Broadus, Kelsey Fehrle, Kaiden Kalkhake and Cooper Lucherk.  There were 704 individuals that competed.
