BLINN AG/SCIENCE DEPT. HOSTING VIRTUAL AG MECHANICS SHOW
Videos and records must be submitted by April 16
The 2021 Blinn College Agricultural Sciences Department agriculture mechanics show is going virtual this year.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, 4-H and FFA members from around the state are invited to submit a video and record book that judges will use to evaluate projects.
Agricultural Sciences Professor Ben Burroughs said he believes the virtual format makes this year’s show one of a kind.
Rules and entry forms for the five divisions (agriculture machinery and equipment, livestock and equipment, bumper pull trailers, gooseneck trailers, and recreation) are available at www.judgingcard.com/Registration/Info.aspx?ID=12317. There are 23 different classes within the five divisions.
The deadline for entries is Friday, April 16. Class winners in each division will be judged April 23-26, with overall grand champion and reserve grand champion winners selected April 28-29 from the division winners.
The show is open to all FFA students and 4-H members. Entry criteria includes submitting an unedited video of good quality that features the entire project and the FFA or 4-H member discussing the project.
An electronic copy of the project’s “show book” also is required. That should include drawings, a bill of materials used, and pictures of the project while it is being constructed, Burroughs added.
“We are looking forward to the show. We anticipate a lot of great projects being entered,” he said.
Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program is approximately four times the size of any other two-year agricultural program in the state and is based at the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Blinn-Brenham Campus. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/agricultural-sciences.
