BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE ALLOWING MORE VISITORS AT HOSPITALS

The healthcare provider instituted the new policy earlier this week, allowing additional visitors for patients receiving care for conditions other than COVID-19.

Baylor Scott and White says the number of visitors allowed may vary based on the facility or unit.

Approved visitors must pass a health screening and temperature check upon entry, and they must wear an approved mask at all times.  Mask requirements apply for all patients, visitors and staff, even if those individuals are vaccinated.

Baylor Scott and White asks that visitors be limited to those considered essential for the patient’s physical or emotional well-being and care.

Patients who are confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 may be accompanied by one visitor over the age of 16 if:

  • The patient is receiving care from pediatric units or NICUs,
  • The patient is laboring or receiving post-partum care,
  • The patient is undergoing a surgery or procedure,
  • The patient is experiencing difficulty understanding or making decisions,
  • The patient is disabled or impaired,
  • The patient is receiving end-of-life care,
  • In other situations deemed acceptable by local facility leaders.

Baylor Scott and White’s full visitation policy can be seen at www.bswhealth.com.

Below is the full statement from Baylor Scott and White concerning the visitation policy changes:

At Baylor Scott & White, we know loved ones are an important part of the healing process. On March 31, we began welcoming additional visitors for patients receiving care for conditions other than COVID-19. The number of visitors may vary based on facility or unit as our team maintains our COVID-19 safety precautions.

In line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we ask that only those essential for each patient’s physical or emotional well-being and care visit at this time.

Upon entry, visitors will be asked to wear a mask and pass a screening and temperature check.

For the safety of all, we are continuing to limit visitors for patients who are confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19.

Those who have questions about our visitor policy may contact the hospital or department directly to learn more.
