LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DROPPED IN MARCH
Washington County’s unemployment took a slight dip in the month of March.
The latest county jobless rate is 6.3%, a drop from 6.7% in March. According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the county’s employment numbers rose from 14,660 in February to 14,752 last month, while the labor force jumped from 15,711 in February to 15,751 in March.
A total of 1,051 are still reportedly unemployed in the county.
Washington County held an unemployment rate of 5.0% in March of last year.
Statewide, the unemployment rate was 6.9%, unchanged from February’s rate.
