OPPOSITION GROUP FILES SUIT AGAINST HIGH-SPEED RAIL

  

Another lawsuit has been filed against the proposed high-speed passenger train project between Dallas and Houston.

The plaintiffs include the group Texans Against High-Speed Rail, six area counties and ten landowners.  The group is suing the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration.

According to the TAHSR Facebook page, the plaintiffs are challenging the FRA’s final environmental impact statement, which allows the type of train that Texas Central plans to use, to be deployed anywhere in the United States.

Texas Central, which is developing the project, is not a co-defendant in the suit.

Co-plaintiffs include Grimes, Waller, Madison, Leon, Freestone and Navarro counties along with the owners of five parcels of land in Waller, Grimes, Madison, Limestone, Ellis, and Harris counties.

TAHSR president and Leon County commissioner Kyle Workman says in a group Facebook post, “The Final EIS is riddled with errors and issues that were never addressed, including adverse environmental impacts and social disparities.“
