THE SPECTATOR: CHOICES IN VOTING

Early voting has begun in city and school board elections.  For as long as I can remember, most Brenham City Council and Brenham School Board seats have gone unopposed in these elections.  In the City election, I believe this is the first time that a majority of the Council seats…four…could be occupied by brand new Council Members.  In the Brenham School Board races, every incumbent is opposed except for one.  For years some members of the public have been clamoring for change.  Yet when election time arrived, nobody stepped up to run against the incumbents.  This year, you have a choice.  Even in the Burton School Board election, you have a choice.

Whether you are one of those calling for “change”, or you are happy with the way things are…this is your chance to do something about it.  All you have to do is VOTE!  Early voting continues through Tuesday, April 27th.  For the City of Brenham and Brenham ISD elections, you can vote early at the Washington County Courthouse Annex Building on Park Street in downtown Brenham.  For the Burton ISD election, you can vote at the administration office on Railroad Street.  Election Day is Saturday, May 1st.

Make your voice count and take the time to vote.  If you don’t vote, then we don’t want to hear you whining about the results.

And that’s the way it looks to this Spectator.
