MS 150 TO PASS THROUGH REGION SATURDAY

Thousands of bicyclists will ride through the area Saturday for the Bike MS Texas 150.

The ride is the largest fundraising event for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  It is normally held as a two-day event, but this year’s ride will take place on one day and will end at Kyle Field on the Texas A&M University Campus.

Riders will start from four different locations: Rhodes Stadium in Katy, Waller ISD Stadium in Waller, the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission, and the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange.  Each route varies between 70 and 100 miles.

The La Grange route will pass through Carmine and Burton, stop for lunch at Lake Somerville, and go through Snook before arriving in College Station.  The Katy, Todd Mission and Waller routes will stop for lunch at the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department before passing through Navasota and making their way to College Station.

TxDOT asks all drivers to watch for bicyclists this weekend, obey all warning signs and safety messages, and be mindful of delays.

Brenham’s Michael Brinkmeyer, a long-time participant in the event, has a fundraising page set up to raise money for MS research on behalf of his daughter, Candice.  Click here to donate.
