SENIOR CORONATION CLOSES OUT 131ST MAIFEST CELEBRATION
The celebration of the 131st Brenham Maifest culminated this (Saturday) evening with the coronation of the Senior Royalty at Fireman’s Park.
Queen Clara Ashley Hamilton and King Carter Houston McVean were crowned at the ceremony and reigned over the court of “British Invasion.” Performances at the ceremony featured nods to several historical figures and pop culture icons from the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, members of the 130th Senior Maifest Royalty were also recognized at the coronation, as they were unable to have a ceremony last year. Senior Royalty for the 130th Maifest were Queen Annie Elizabeth Clepper and King Cole Ragonis, with a theme of “The Great Jungle Journey.”
The coronation ceremony concluded a full day of festivities, beginning with the Maifest parade through downtown Brenham. Community members then headed to Fireman’s Park for carnival games and rides, a home brew contest, beer tasting, and music and dance performances.
