ALCOHOL-TO-GO BILL SIGNED INTO LAW
Governor Greg Abbott has signed into law a bill that allows Texans to purchase alcohol to-go from restaurants.
The bill was signed on Wednesday after near unanimous votes of approval by the Texas House and Senate.
With the new law, customers will be able to pick up beer, wine and mixed drinks with food orders. Alcohol can also be included with delivery orders.
In March 2020, Abbott signed a waiver to allow restaurants to deliver beer, wine and mixed drinks with food orders while dining in was disallowed. The waiver was set to expire in May 2020, but was extended indefinitely.
The new law becomes effective September 1st.
