WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS RENEW AIR MEDICAL TRANSPORT MEMBERSHIP

Washington County Commissioners renewed the county’s membership for air medical services at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Commissioners voted to renew the county’s AirMedCare Network municipal site membership.  EMS Director Kevin Deramus said the membership is “dollar for dollar” the same agreement as approved last year, and covers copay for air medical services for county residents in the covered area of Washington County and several adjacent counties.

Through a supplemental coverage plan, Washington County residents are able to pay for coverage for their household outside of the contiguous counties, with varying levels of coverage from statewide to international.  The membership, which has a standard annual cost of $45 and a reduced cost of $35 for seniors, applies for all helicopter providers that fall under the umbrella of the Air Medical Group Holdings (AMGH) company GMR, including REACH Air Medical Services, Air Evac, Guardian Air, and Med-Trans.

Also at today’s meeting, commissioners agreed to pay the invoice associated with the membership, which comes out to $131,078 annually, or about $3.64 per Washington County resident.  The cost to the county is reimbursed by REACH.

Commissioners also heard a series of monthly reports from EMS, the Sheriff’s Office, E911, Information Technology and the veterans service officer.
