AUSTIN CO. MAN GIVEN LIFE SENTENCE FOR INDECENCY WITH A CHILD

(Austin Co. Jail)
An Austin County man was sentenced to life in prison last week for Indecency with a Child.
38-year-old Cesar Carlos Urbina of Industry was found guilty by an Austin County jury of eight women and four men before 155th District Court Judge Jeff Steinhauser for the offense that occurred in 2018.
The jury deliberated about 15 minutes before returning a guilty verdict, and after hearing punishment evidence, took 30 minutes to give the maximum punishment.
In addition to the prison sentence, the jury also assessed a $10,000 fine.
The jury heard testimony that showed Urbina had sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl at a party near Shelby. Witnesses presented by First Assistant District Attorney Brandy Robinson also accused Urbina of improperly touching a six-year-old girl on a separate occasion.
Family members and school officials also testified how Urbina’s actions affected the victims.
The jury was also presented evidence that Urbina had been in prison before for felony drug and bail jumping offenses.
