BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO NAME MAYOR PRO-TEM, CONSIDER FLAG POLE REPAIRS

The Burton City Council will look to appoint a mayor pro-tem at its meeting Tuesday.

The member of the council that is selected to serve as mayor pro-tem will do so for one year.  Currently, Councilmember Nathan Kalkhake serves in the position.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, councilmembers will consider repairing or replacing the lights that shine on the flag poles on Highway 290 in Burton, one on each side of the freeway.  The flags are currently unlit, as both of the lights are broken.  Harmel Electric will present an estimate for repairs for the bulbs, fixture, wiring and breakers.

The council will also discuss the 2021 appraisal for Washington County, and take possible action on the field inspection form and target ordinances regarding code violation and enforcement.  At the council’s meeting last month, it contracted Tom Whitesides to serve as a code enforcement officer.  At this meeting, it will review the ordinances it prefers Whitesides to concentrate on.

The council will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
