The Brenham Police Department had two new chiefs on Monday – at least for a brief time.

Local youths Clayton and Lance Barnett were named “Police Chiefs of the Day.”  The two are part of Faith Mission’s SMART Pro Kids program, which introduces children to officials in the profession they want to pursue when they grow up.

Clayton and Lance were presented with official police department name badges and “Chief of the Day” certificates from Brenham Police Chief Ron Parker, who explained to them what it takes to become a police officer and a chief.

Parker then took the two on exclusive tours of the police department and the animal shelter.

Faith Mission Executive Director Reverend Randy Wells said he is grateful to all that make the summer SMART Kids program special for local youth.
