BELLVILLE ISD LIKELY TO CALL FOR NOVEMBER BOND ELECTION

Voters in the Bellville Independent School District will be deciding on two bond proposals, when they head to the polls in November.

At their last meeting, the board of trustees announced they will officially be calling for a bond election, likely during their July meeting.

According to the board, voters will be asked to consider two propositions November 2nd.  While official wording has not yet been formulated, Proposition A is a $104.1 million bond that includes the construction of a new high school, and renovations at various existing campuses.

Proposition B will ask voters to consider an additional $9.1 million which would be for athletics and Ag science at the proposed new high school campus.

If both are approved, the total amount would be $113.2 million.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicole Poenitzsch said a 12 percent inflation cost is built into the bond proposals.

Officials say the projected annual tax payment increase on a $200,000 property value with the $25,000 homestead exemption would be $360 per year if both propositions pass. Proposition A would be $330, and B would be $30.
