FLOATING SOLAR ARRAY AT ALTMAN PLANTS NEAR GIDDINGS FEATURED IN BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC ARTICLE
A wholesale nursery west of Giddings boasts the first solar array in the state that floats on water.
An article from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, titled “Floating Solar,” details the floating array at Altman Plants.
The array was powered up in May, measuring over 94,000 square feet and including nearly 2,600 solar panels. The array has 750 kilowatts of production capacity, enough to power 93 homes.
The story tells the background of how the floating array was assembled and explains the differences between it and land-based solar arrays.
