FORMER CUB PITCHER JOZWIAK PICKED BY MARLINS IN MLB DRAFT
A former Brenham Cub baseball standout has been selected in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft.
In the 13th round, the Miami Marlins selected Texas A&M left-hander Chandler Jozwiak with the 389th overall pick.
As a senior, Jozwiak became a go-to arm out of the Aggies’ bullpen, posting a 3.48 ERA with eight saves, with 79 strikeouts in 62 innings of work.
In 2017, Jozwiak helped lead the Cubs to the Region Finals with a 10-1 record, with a 0.98 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched. He was named TSWA Class 5A All-State and played in the THSBCA All-Star Game.
Chandler is the son of Amy and Wayne Jozwiak of Brenham. His brother Cullen played at Blinn College and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and is a member of the current Cubs’ coaching staff.
