‘FOR THE CITY’ HOSTING 4TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY-WIDE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

A nonprofit benefitting Washington County students is seeking school supply donations as the start of the new school year approaches.

Since 2018, For The City has partnered with Brenham and Burton ISDs to organize a no-cost back-to-school supply market to provide local students with school supplies.

The 4th annual distribution of supplies for Brenham ISD students will take place on Saturday, August 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brenham Community Education Building on a first come, first served basis.  Burton ISD’s supply distribution will be coordinated by their campus principals.

For the City President Tori Bryan says the supply market gets the entire community involved to help local students.

Bryan says the organization’s goal for this year’s effort is to provide supplies for 1,600 students in need, including all of the incoming prekindergarten students at the Brenham Early Childhood Learning Center.

The organization has two giving campaign opportunities to encourage community participation.  A $10,000 matching campaign was created by Red Fern Woodwork and Renovation, while a second campaign for $5,000 was started by an anonymous individual donor.
