LONGTIME BRENHAM FIREFIGHTER MARVIN HAEVISCHER DIES

  

A longtime firefighter in Brenham who was twice named Fireman of the Year has died.

Marvin Haevischer died Wednesday at his home in Brenham at the age of 81.

Haevischer joined the Brenham Fire Department in September of 1964, serving until his retirement in 2000.  He was named Fireman of the Year in 1998 for the Brenham Fire Department and in 1999 for the Central Texas Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association.

On his days off from the fire department, he worked as a carpenter for Thielemann Construction for 55 years.

Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.  Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
