NEW LOCAL CHAPTER OF AMERICAN HERITAGE GIRLS HOLDING FIRST MEETING FRIDAY

A new chapter of a nationwide Christian-based organization has been formed for youth in Brenham and Washington County.

The American Heritage Girls troop #0514 were formed this summer.  The organization was started in 1995 in Ohio, stating a goal of promoting Christ-centered character and leadership development.

Jennifer Gajeske, one of the organizers of the group, said the local chapter was formed after some families sought to give their children opportunities for community involvement rooted in religion.

The group will hold its first meeting tomorrow (Friday) from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Activity Center in Brenham.  The group will meet there once a month, usually during the third or fourth week of the month.

Gajeske said the group is chartered by the St. Mary’s Parish Council of Catholic Women, but is open to all girls ages 5-18.  Adult volunteers are welcome.

Anyone interested in learning more or getting involved can contact Gajeske at 979-337-4669 or email ahgtx0514@gmail.com.
