BRENHAM ISD MCJROTC PROGRAM EARNS NAVAL HONOR SCHOOL DISTINCTION

The Brenham High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC has received a prestigious honor marking it as one of the best programs in the country.
The program has been designated as a Naval Honor School. This means that the program will have the opportunity to send nominations to the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and the Military Academy at West Point. Brenham ISD officials say this will give a significant advantage to students who desire to join a service academy.
Captain Jeffrey Bayse said the Brenham High School cadets “have continually dedicated themselves to achieving success” and “represent Brenham with pride.”
To receive this honor, cadets had to meet several criteria including cadet citizenship, school and community involvement, and scholastic achievement. Units were also measured by participation in public affairs events, drill team competitions, rifle team competitions, physical fitness team competitions and field trips.
This is the first time since 2004 that Brenham High School has earned this distinction.
