WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE COUNTY CLERK ARCHIVE PLAN

Washington County Commissioners approved the county clerk’s records archive plan for Fiscal Year 2022 at their meeting today (Tuesday).

The county is required annually to file the plan, which collects fees from the filing of documents like deeds and contracts with the county.  No one spoke during a public hearing for the item.

County Clerk Beth Rothermel said a $10 archive fee is charged each time there is a filing in her office, and the money from those fees is used to preserve and restore historic records and documents.

Also during today’s meeting, commissioners received a presentation from County Engineer Ross McCall of a preliminary plat for the development of the Reserve at Chappell Hill, a residential subdivision consisting of 35 lots on 115 acres fronting six proposed roads off FM 1155, north of Hughes Lake Lane in Precinct 1.

McCall said the development is in preliminary stages, and the county will be monitoring drainage concerns to make sure there is no impact to New Year’s Creek or nearby properties.

Also in session, the court approved:

  • A maintenance grant contract and contract renewal for a participating entity services agreement for the Statewide Automated Victim Notification Services (SAVNS). The contract for the grant program is to assist Texas counties and other entities in maintaining a statewide system providing offender release information, notification of relevant court settings or events to crime victims and other interested individuals, promote public safety and support the rights of crime victims.  The amount of the grant is $18,592.
  • An order for the November 2nd constitutional amendment election.
  • The 2022 sheriff’s and constable’s fees for Washington County.
  • A right-of-way permit for the Washington County Fair trail ride on Saturday. The trail ride will begin at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Expo and cover a route that includes Blue Bell Road, Old Independence Road, Tommelson Creek Road and FM 2935.
  • A resolution certifying that Washington County has granted funds in 2022 to the Washington County Healthy Living Association (WCHLA) and that the county approves WCHLA’s accounting system or fiscal agent. This allows the WCHLA to be eligible to receive funds from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program for the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center.
