LONGTIME FAIR SUPPORTER, ACTIVIST TRAVIS BOEKER DIES

  

A longtime supporter of youth through county fairs around the region has died.

Travis Wayne Boeker died Tuesday at the age of 79.

Boeker was involved for many years with the Washington County Fair, serving as a director and board member for the Washington County Fair Association.

Boeker also served as the general manager for the Brazos Valley Fair and the Fort Bend County Fair Association.

In addition, Boeker acted as president of the Texas Association of Fairs and Events in 1986.  He was named a recipient of the organization’s Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.

Boeker was also involved in the community through groups such as the Brenham Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol program.

Visitation will be on Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.
