API BASS TOURNAMENT FRIDAY, SATURDAY AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

The American Petroleum Institute (API) will host its annual fishing tournament this weekend at Lake Somerville.

The tournament at the Lake Somerville Marina and Campground kicks off tonight (Friday) with a fundraiser and registration event at 5 p.m.  Families will be treated to dinner and door prizes, and there will also be toys for children.

Event organizer James Wannamaker says the tournament raises money to support local students and charities.

The fishing begins tomorrow (Saturday) at 6 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.

Top prizes are $1,000 in the open division and $500 in the sportsman division, with additional prizes in the $100 hourly big bass pot and overall big bass pot.  Complimentary food and beverages will be offered at weigh-in.

To learn more, contact Wannamaker at 979-324-1038 or Dwayne Williams at 979-255-0011.  More information is also available at the API Bass Tournament Facebook page.

KTEX-106 will send Craig Montana to the lake this evening to broadcast live from the fundraiser and registration event, and will have hourly reports on the tournament tomorrow.
