ESPORTS: BLINN OVERWATCH TEAM SWEEPS OKLAHOMA CITY

Thursday’s 3-0 win moves season record to 2-1

Blinn College’s Overwatch esports team defeated Oklahoma City University 3-0 in a match Thursday night.

With the win, the Overwatch team is now 2-1 on the season. In Overwatch, teams defend or attack points on a map, or escort a payload across a map while another team tries to stop them.

Members of Blinn’s team are captain Gabriel Lopez, Hayden Evans, Pierce Ray, George Francis, Ahmed Khalil, William Rossley, and William Bowman.

Blinn’s Valorant team will make its season debut in the West Open Qualifier taking place Sunday through Thursday.

The Rocket League team (1-1) continues league play Monday against Midwestern State University.

Blinn competes in the National Association of College Esports against two-year colleges and four-year universities. This is only the second year for Blinn’s esports program, which was launched in the fall of 2020, and is one of the few community colleges in the region that offers esports scholarships.
